Advocates & Supporters
Tech is the New Trap is about creating space for diverse identities within the tech workforce for a more equitable experience.
Are you passionate about social causes? Do you believe in being vocal about social progress? Great! We need your energy and passion! Tech is the New Trap is committed to creating a more equitable, diverse, and representative tech workforce by creating spaces for black identities and people of color. You can help push economic and social progress as an advocate and supporter.
You’re most likely familiar with the obstacles people of color face in the job market, but you might not know the extent of it. In the tech field alone, Black individuals and other minorities face everything from inherent biases to systemic racism. These challenges lead Black professionals to feel outcasted, underappreciated, and marginalized. Only 10% of the tech workforce is Black which represents a stunning lack of diversity. As one of the fastest-growing fields, it’s crucial that the tech industry increases its inclusion, diversity, and acceptance. This opens up businesses to a richer and more dynamic talent pool, gives employees more exposure to a diverse range of ideas, and provides the Black community with more professional opportunities.

Employers & Strategic Partners
Tech is the New Trap is a unique, grassroots campaign focused specifically on enhancing employer visibility on the Black talent within the community which has been significantly underrepresented in the tech field for decades. We're committed to showing the value and advantages of hiring Black to employers across the industry to encourage a more diverse, equitable, and dynamic workforce where members of the Black community and people of color can feel more represented and understood.
Despite being the fastest growing and most future-proof industry, the tech sector has been grossly underrepresented of Black people and other minority groups for decades and decades. Not only does this prevent qualified and eager professionals from the community from having a fair chance at succeeding, but it also bars employers from benefiting from the dynamic talent pool available. Black individuals face discrimination, gatekeeping, and systemic racism in the field. The ones who are able to overcome the obstacles still have to deal with codeswitching, microaggressions, and other threats on ad daily basis. When only 10% of the Black community is represented in the tech sector, you know something is fundamentally wrong. That’s why we’re focused on offering nonprofit tech industry training services to create avenues of success for minorities in the industry.

Donors & Sponsors
Tech is the New Trap is a one-of-a-kind campaign that's bringing together the community through tech, music, and culture to build paths for opportunities in the tech workforce. We're on the lookout for like-minded event sponsors that are passionate about supporting causes that promote, celebrate, and support Black individuals and people of color.
Black individuals and people of color are severely underrepresented in the tech industry. Despite making up nearly 14% of the population, the Black community only makes up 10% of the tech workforce. On top of that, 80% of Black entrepreneurs face barriers to funding and other resources that their counterparts don't experience. There are several causes for this lack of diversity and inclusion including gatekeeping, inherent biases, discrimination, and outright institutionalized racism. As an event sponsor, you'll be supporting a cause that's spearheading the drive to create a more welcoming, accepting, and diverse tech space. The donations you provide will go directly to funding our efforts to boost equity, diversity, and advocacy surrounding this crucial cause.
